REW 55 – the self-propelled  winch for pulling in and out

Drum-type winch on a crawler chassis – for district heating pipelines and cable pulling.

The REW 55 pulls combined heating and cooling pipelines into prepared tube trenches and pulls ground cables out of tube systems – two applications using the same machine. It travels off-road on its own, using rubber tracks and a hydraulic dozer blade. Designed as a drum-type winch with hydrostatic drive, manufactured by Jost in Langnau.

Your benefits at a glance

Dual-purpose pulling in and pulling-out – pulling heating service lines into the trench and pulling existing cables out of tube systems – one machine handles both applications.

Self-propelled on rubber tracks – The winch can reach the job site on its own, even in areas where trailer access is not possible. Hydraulic dozer blade with locking block for stability.

Hydraulic rope release – The rope is released hydraulically, not manually. This saves time and reduces the operator’s workload when preparing the pull.

Hydraulic rope tensioning – The rope guidance with hydraulic tensioning ensures even winding and reduces rope wear.

Passive protection against rope break – A man-high, hot-dip galvanized steel mesh with foot and shin protection shields the operator from the effects of rope breakage.

Drive, Control, and Safety

Hydrostatic, continuously variable drive. Spring-loaded multi-disc brake, hydraulically released, serving as an emergency brake and holding device. Control system, integrated length and pulling force measurement, preselection of tension range, radio remote control for travel and winch operation with feedback on the display, traction data registration with output via USB. The adjustable passive protection against rope breaks provides additional safety.
