Custom-made cable routing systems
When Jost’s standard range of cable laying technology is not enough, Jost builds a custom machine. The application comes first, not the product: tensile force, space, drive, environment, and safety determine the design. Design is usually carried out in collaboration with our sister company opdesign ltd. At the same location, and manufacturing takes place in-house, from welded structures to the finished machine. Jost remains responsible for maintenance, repairs, and modifications—even twenty years after delivery. Since 1876.
Types
Testing of proven principles of custom designs – not exhaustive:

| Cable reel module | Unit for winding and unwinding cable drums (coils) within the desired load range. The hydraulic friction wheel drive enables autonomous operation with the desired spool dimensions – Control of maximum force and speed during winding – Fine adjustment of braking force and thus cable pre-tension / contact wire sag during unwinding – Equipment, operation, and motorization according to project specifications. |
Built for the job
NEAT Gotthard Tunnel. Intermediate chassis that houses the cable pull machine on the multifunctional vehicle, equipped with a cable deflection system for cable pulling on both sides of the railway banquet – for cables and power lines.
Construction pontoons in Solothurn. During the dismantling of the Röstibrücke, four custom-built electric drum winches held the construction pontoons in position on the Aare river – allowing for a compact setup of the platform.
340-ton lifting platform. Lifting system with 2 × 1700 kN capacity for a shipyard, capable of lifting entire ships out of the water; 16-fold pulley system, in operation since 2000.
