KZW 10 – the compact small winch
For pre-roping, calibration, and shorter cable pulls up to 12 kN
The KZW 10 is the compact model in Jost’s line of cable pull winches – designed for tasks that are too heavy for manual labor but too small for larger models. It pulls copper and fiber-optic cables in a direct pull. Weighing just 240 kg, with removable wheels and a hand push bar, it can be transported to different job sites without special transport equipment.
Your benefits at a glance
Easy to move between job sites – weighing just 240 kg, with removable wheels and a push handle, the machine can be moved to different locations without the need for special transport.
Stepless control and safe – The hydraulic drive adjusts speed and traction across the entire range; a relief valve with a pressure gauge, an automatic shut-off in case of low oil pressure, and a centrifugal clutch ensure safe operation.
Complete reel freedom – pull out the rope without running the engine thanks to the reel with free wheeling ability; easy reel replacement allows for flexible operation.
Key Technical Specifications

- Fiber rope: 5 mm diameter × 1,800 m, 23 kg
Options and Extensions
The standard model features a gasoline engine, hydraulic drive, a reel with free wheeling ability, removable wheels, a push handle, a cable intake with a swivel arm, a coiler replacement device, and a charger.
Additional configurable options include:
- Capstan, side-mounted, for pulling forces up to 16 kN (1.6 t) – Release the cable using a manual back pull and pull it through the capstan.
- 3 kW electric motor, 400 V, used separately or in combination with the gasoline engine – for applications with noise or emission restrictions, such as in tunnels or in urban areas. The gasoline engine remains part of the machine; the total weight increases to 270 kg.
- Various reel models – for different rope types and lengths. Can be separated for lead-line work.
- Tensile force: Speed and length display with load cutoff and traction data registration.
Advice and next steps
The KZW 10 is the smallest of the Jost cable pull winches. If its pulling force isn’t sufficient for your application, the next models up are available – ranging from winches with a 2-ton pulling force to large machines starting at 4 tons.
