KSA 3500/6000 cable coil trailer
Twin-axle, all-terrain – for drums up to 3.1 m in diameter and 4 tons.
The KSA 3500/6000 is the dual-axle cable coil trailer from Jost cable laying technology. It transports cable drums up to 3.1 m in diameter to the construction site—approved for road use at speeds up to 80 km/h—and serves there as a controlled unwinding device in combination with a Jost cable pull machine. Two payload classes cover the requirements: the KSA 3500 for lighter drums and the KSA 6000 (up to 4 t) for heavier drums—available in wide and narrow versions to accommodate different drum widths and space constraints. The dual-axle design not only makes it stable on the road but also suitable for off-road use, where many single-axle trailers reach their limits. One task, two functions: The drum arrives ready for use right where it is unrolled.
Your benefits at a glance
Transport and unwinding in one – The cable drum is delivered to the construction site on a trailer and unwinded directly there – no need to transfer it to another vehicle, and no separate unwinding device is required.
Coil diameter – cable drums ranging from 1 to 3.1 m in diameter and 600 to 1,650 mm in width – from compact drums for fiber-optic cables to heavy-duty drums for medium-voltage cables.
Controlled winding and unwinding – Winding and unwinding of cable drums (coils) within the desired load range. The hydraulic friction wheel drive allows for autonomous operation with the desired coil dimensions – regulation of maximum force and speed during winding – fine adjustment of braking force and thus cable pre-tension / contact wire sag during unwinding.
Hydraulic drum loading – The drum is loaded hydraulically, eliminating the need to manually lift cable drums weighing up to 4 tons and thereby removing a major source of injury from the work process.
In combination with Jost cable pull machines—trailer and cable pull machine from a single workshop in Langnau: The release mechanism and brake on the coil allow for controlled unwinding even while the winch is under tension.

Note: Payload specifications apply to models with reel drive, hydraulic reel loading, and supports.
B = wide version (for wider drums), S = narrow version (for confined spaces and access routes). Road approval: KSA 3500 up to 100 km/h; KSA 6000 up to 80 km/h.
Features
In the standard configuration, a 9.5 kW (13 hp) gasoline engine powers the trailer; the drum is hydraulically loaded, and the hydraulic friction drive operates in both directions—single-direction on the KSA 3500 and double-direction on the KSA 6000. Hydraulic anchor support legs, reel release and brake, as well as the cable remote control, are included; they allow for safe operation by a single person and controlled unwinding even under tension from the Cable pull winch. The reel axle is weight-optimized, the drawbar is height-adjustable, and is available with either a ball or eye hitch.
Available as an option:
- EG air brake with ABS+RSS (standard on the KSA 6000)
- Diesel engine (7.3 kW / 10 hp) with a particle filter instead of a gasoline engine
- Electric drive
- Radio remote control and wired remote control
- Pulling force measurement with software and memory card: Force, displacement, and speed are recorded, with automatic shutdown at the limit tensile force; any drum can be used by entering its specifications
- Tarpaulin cover for the front area
- Various types of dump bodies (tipping and transport dump bodies) via the Welaki loading system
Advice and next steps
Jost will determine which payload class, drum width (B or S), and drawbar connection are suitable for your drum and towing vehicle during the technical consultation; The KSA 3500/6000 covers drums up to Ø 3.1 m and 4 t; for even larger loads, the range continues with the KSA 9000 (9 t). During the laying process, the trailer (KSA) holds and brakes the drum, while the cable pull machine (KZW) at the other end pulls in the cable.
